Development Orders

All multi-family residential, commercial, institutional, infrastructure, industrial development projects and subdivisions must obtain a Development Order prior to any earthwork and the issuance of a building permit.

In accordance with Section 10-8 of the Land Development code of Lee County, developments must be designed to achieve the following:  conservation of ecological integrity, traffic pattern/traffic impact mitigation, access streets, water and sewage systems, drainage and stormwater management, open space, parks and recreation, landscaping and buffering, wetland, protected species, fire protections, density, intensity of use and preservation of historic resources.

The average time for Development Order reviews varies from 10 days to 21 days, depending on the size of the project.  You can received assistance in this process through the Questions and Comments page.
