Benefits Long & Short Term Disability Insurance
Long-Term Disability This plan replaces 60% of your pre-disability income if you experience an illness, injury, or pregnancy. You must be diagnosed as totally disabled by a qualified physician, remain totally disabled during the 90-day elimination period, and meet all criteria for the plan. The benefit will be reduced by any income received from other sources, such as other disability programs, Social Security, or retirement on a dollar for dollar basis. This coverage is paid for entirely by Lee County. The max salary range coverage is $100,000.00, with a maximum benefit of $1,154.00 per week. This benefit is taxable.

Short-Term Disability This insurance will provide a benefit of 60% of your pre-disability base salary, reduced by any other deductible income you receive, up to a maximum salary of $1,000 per week, with a maximum benefit amount of $600 per week, and a minimum benefit amount of $50 per week. You will be responsible for using only 40 hours of your own accumulated sick leave. Your Short Term Disability benefits will begin on the 8th day of disability, and continue for a maximum of 12 weeks per occurrence. This coverage, if elected, is paid for entirely by the employee. The max salary covered is $52,000.00 per year, with maximum benefit of $600.00 per week. Benefit is not taxed.
