PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS PLANNED FOR TWO ROAD PROJECTS

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 13, 2001) – Lee County is inviting residents to attend two informational meetings on upcoming road projects in Lehigh Acres and South Fort Myers.

The meetings are designed to explain the transportation projects for nearby residents and businesses and to receive public input.

The meeting dates are –

Thursday, March 22 (6:30 p.m.) – at Cypress Lake Middle School, 8901 Cypress Lake Drive, to discuss:

Cypress Lake Drive Widening

The road project will widen 0.9 miles of Cypress Lake Drive from four lanes to six lanes. The expansion runs from Summerlin Road to U.S. 41.

Location: From Summerlin Road to U.S. 41.

Cost: $2.7 million

Expected Start Date: September 2001

Expected Project Duration: 6 months

Thursday, March 29 (6:30 p.m.) – at Lehigh Senior High School, 801 Gunnery Road, to discuss:

Gunnery Road Improvements and Access Management

The road project will widen 2.4 miles of Gunnery Road from two lanes to four lanes with a median. The expansion runs from State Road 82 to Lee Boulevard.

Location: From S.R. 82 to Lee Blvd.

Cost: $6.9 million

Expected Start Date: Fiscal Year 2002-03
