COUNTY POOLS WILL BE CLOSED WEDNESDAY FOR LIFEGUARD TRAINING
FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 11, 2001) – Lee County pools will be closed Wednesday so new and returning lifeguards can receive daylong in-service training in emergency procedures.
The beach at Lakes Park also will be closed.
Pools that will be closed are community pools in Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, Pine Island, San Carlos Park and Tice, and high school pools at Cypress Lake, North Fort Myers and Riverdale.
The training is at North Fort Myers Community Pool, 5170 Orange Grove Boulevard in North Fort Myers. Interested media outlets can get pictures of the training and interview participants from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Lee County’s Parks & Recreation Department maintains and operates 3,500 acres of developed park land, 14 centers, 9 pools, five boat ramps, three Gulf beach parks, one lakefront beach, 76 beach accesses, 60 tennis courts, 73 ballfields, and 13 preserves. The department’s fiscal year 2001 operating budget is $15.1 million.
