UPDATE #1 RE: COUNTY EOCs CONFERENCE CALL
FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 11, 2001) - County Emergency Operations Centers, law
enforcement, city/county governments and other organizations held a 11 a.m.
conference call today to discuss local actions being taken based on the events
in New York City and Washington D.C.
Below is a summary of the
conference call:
Southwest Florida International Airport has no incoming or outgoing flights.
The VCB and Red Cross are working to feed and house grounded passengers.
The county's EMS helicopter is grounded.
Security at courthouses and government offices has been notified to be on a
heightened sense of security.
Lee County Schools remain open, however parents can pick up their children if
they wish. Campuses are on lockdown with only one point of access/exit.
Lee County EOC is working to coordinate any counseling residents may require
through the Clergy Disaster Team.
The Lee County EOC has not been activated but is closely monitoring the
situation.
The Glades County Courthouse has been closed.
There will be a state conference call at 1 p.m.
