 RUGBY FINALS TO BE HELD IN FORT MYERS

 

Fort Myers,  Florida (4/12/04) The Lee County Sports Authority has teamed up with southwest Florida's Hammerhead Rugby Club to host the 2004 Men's Division II & III and Women's Division II Rugby South Finals.

 

The event will be held on April 24th & 25th at Three Oaks Community Park in south Ft. Myers, located at 18215 Three Oaks Parkway. Twelve teams representing four states will be participating.

 

USA Rugby has 50,000 members, with USA Rugby South contributing 4,858 (of which Florida boasts 1001 members).

 

"We are hoping that this event will raise awareness of the sport of Rugby in the Fort Myers area" said Reed Jarvi, event director.

 

This venture with USA Rugby will be the 6th event hosted in Lee County that is associated with a National Governing Body (NGB) of the United States Olympic Committee.
