The
innovative information series called "See you in September" provides seasonal
residents with a one stop shopping approach to preparing to depart for the
summer months.
Community Relations Coordinator Heather O'Connell says, "Patrons will learn
about everything from mail forwarding, to tips on preventing identity
theft, protecting their homes for the summer and keeping themselves and their
pets safe on their travels."
Each regional library will host a 2 hour "drop-in" session, allowing patrons to
come and go as their schedules allow, and to pick up information and helpful
items. Representatives of participating departments and agencies will speak at
the events.
O'Connell says that with the cold weather lasting longer up north, more seasonal
residents seem to be leaving later this year, and many of them can benefit from
this free program.
"Even if you've made this migration every year, there are new services and new
tips that these agencies provide. You may find some information or service that
will save you time and make your trip and return easier."
Speakers include representatives from
The Lee County Sheriff's Office will be
there to provide crime prevention and safety tips for travelers and protecting
their vacant homes. EMS officials will have a look at some of the new advances
seasonal residents can expect when they return in the fall.
O'Connell says the program is a perfect fit for the Lee County Library System,
"The library is a terrific resource for getting answers to your questions, we're
very happy to bring together all these resources for our patrons."
