BONITA BEACH ROAD CONSTRUCTION KICKS OFF!

Fort Myers, FL, May 6, 2004 - The Lee County Department of Transportation (DOT) will conduct a pre-construction public information workshop for the widening and resurfacing of Bonita Beach Road on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Living Waters Church, 27911 Vermont Street (corner of Bonita Beach Road and Vermont Street) in Bonita Springs.

Construction will begin this summer to widen and resurface Bonita Beach Road. The project consists of the widening of Bonita Beach Road from the current four-lane configuration to six lanes from west of I-75 to Eastbrook Drive and resurfacing the existing four-lane roadway from Eastbrook Drive to Mango Street. Modifications to existing intersections and median openings along Bonita Beach Road are also included in this construction project. The entire project is expected to be complete by summer of 2005.

The workshop will be conducted in an "open house" format; no formal presentation will be given. Please stop by the workshop anytime between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. to ask questions and talk one-on-one with the project team. Find out about median openings and access to businesses during construction. This is your opportunity to talk directly with the contractor about the construction project.
