PLANNED TEMPORARY REPAIRS TO CAUSEWAY BRIDGE "C" BEGIN JUNE 4

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 28, 2004) - Additional temporary repairs to Bridge "C" of the Sanibel Causeway that have been in the planning for several months are scheduled to begin Friday, June 4.

Most of the work will be done underneath the bridge, however motorists should expect possible traffic delays as short-term lane closures may be necessary at various times during the installation.

Bridge "C" is the fixed bridge closest to Sanibel.

Zep Construction will be doing the work, which includes installing additional steel beam supports under two sections of the bridge. The county's engineering consultants, PBS&J, are recommending the repairs. The cost is about $440,000.

The installation is expected to be completed by Friday, June 18.

See link to February release when site inspection revealed need for more supports.
