United States Youth Soccer and USA Volleyball Events to be Held in Fort Myers

Last January, the Lee County Sports Authority teamed up with the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) to make a proposal to United States Youth Soccer (USYS), in an effort to secure the Director's Cup.

The USYS boasts over three million members and is the largest agency within the United States Soccer Federation, the governing body for soccer in the United States.

"Not just anyone can make a presentation to USYS, you have to have the support of the state association in order to come before the board. Lee County and the FYSA have a long standing relationship that enables us to bring quality programs to our area" said FYSA Region "C"  President John Steinweg.

The event will be take place at the Kelly Road Soccer Complex in Fort Myers and the Cape Coral Sports Complex. Games will be played between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM on June 11th and 12th, and between 9:00 AM and Noon on June 13th.

The Director's Cup is a prestigious twelve-state event that will draw the region's best 14 & Under and 18 & Under girls teams. Over 50 teams will make the trek to Fort Myers from Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas.

The East Coast Tryouts will feature the best 13 thru 18-year-old volleyball players from the east coast.

The event will take place in Fort Myers Beach at dual locations.  The primary venue will be Lynn Hall Memorial Park, and the other will be the Bay Oaks Recreation Center.
