TWINS CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP REBUILD LITTLE LEAGUE COMPLEX

FORT MYERS, FL (September 8, 2004) - The Minnesota Twins have given Lee County $5,000 to assist with the Hurricane Charley recovery effort - money that will be used to help repair the damaged Little League Complex at Phillips Park on Pine Island.

Pine Island was one of the harder hit communities by Hurricane Charley.

The Twins organization donated the money through the Twins Community Fund, an affiliated 501-c-3 nonprofit charity whose mission is to enrich local and regional communities by providing resources for the healthy development of children and families through an association with baseball, softball and the Minnesota Twins.

The three-field Little League Complex at county-run Phillips Park suffered damage to the lighting and dugouts.

"This will help repair a complex that is a key facility for the Pine Island community and its youth," said John Yarbrough, county Parks & Recreation Director. "The county appreciates the Twins' contribution and its thoughtfulness to the needs of Lee County after Hurricane Charley."
