Roy Hobbs World Series to Return to Lee County
Fort Myers, Florida - Thousands of adult baseball players will make their
annual autumn trek to Southwest Florida for the Roy Hobbs World Series. Old
friends will rekindle memories of World Series past, and new friends will be
made during their three-week stay in Fort Myers.
Marking its sixteenth year, the Roy Hobbs World Series is sure to please
all baseball purists who participate in the fall classic. This year's event
will feature over 175 teams from across the United States.
"The Roy Hobbs World Series has been part of the fabric of the Lee County
sport scene for nearly two decades" said Jeff Mielke, director for the Lee
County Sports Authority. "We hope to continue hosting this event for many
years to come," he added.
Tom Giffen, President of Roy Hobbs Baseball, recently signed an agreement with
Lee County that will make Southwest Florida the event's home through 2009.
Games will be played October 30th through November 20th at Terry Park, the Lee
County Sports Complex , City of Palms Park and the Red Sox Player Development
Facility (5-plex). A Women's division will compete in the first week of the
tournament.
