TRUCK TICKETS EXPIRE DECEMBER 31, 2004

FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 13, 2004) - Pre-purchased tickets for heavy trucks to use the Midpoint, Cape Coral and Sanibel bridges will expire December 31 as the tickets are phased out.

When the county implemented electronic toll collection for heavy trucks in December 2003, it agreed to accept the truck tickets through the end of this year.

By then, heavy trucks wanting to use variable pricing for Cape Coral and Midpoint bridges must get electronic transponders. Transponders are available for use on the Sanibel bridge as well, however variable pricing has not been implemented on the Sanibel bridge.

The LeeWay system is a way to pay tolls electronically and eliminate the need for truck tickets or cash.

Multi-axle vehicles still are required to use the attended lanes on all bridges.
