The Beach Nourishment Project Has Been Completed
Gasparilla Island on April 09, 2007
The restoration project concluded on April 14, 2007. Currently a re-evaluation of the proposed T-head groins and segmented breakwater is underway. The evaluation will analyze different structure alignments, including the option no structures, to determine if a more economical placement and design is available. Results are expected in December 2008.
Shoreline monitoring activities have also commenced. Lee County will be measuring the volume of material remaining and the shoreline movement occuring in the 1st year post construction. Results are anticipated in August 2008.
