Marine Program
UPDATE: May 2008:
Follow this link to read details about a proposed Noticed General Permit for dredging navigation channels in Lee County.
Please be aware that a new navigation channel will be dredged leading from the ICW near Marker #39 heading west towards South Sea Plantation and Redfish Pass. During dredging a temporary channel will be maintained, marked with buoys. The existing channel will be abandoned and its markers removed once the new channel is complete. The controlling depth of the temporary channel is 5' MLW. This work is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2008.
The Marine Services Program is a section of the Natural Resources Division. Areas of oversight include Beach Management, Aids to Navigation, Derelict Vessel Removal, Artificial Reefs and Waterway Management. The Program has 6 staff members, Steven Boutelle, Natural Resources Manager, Chris Koepfer, Natural Resources Supervisor, Justin McBride, Senior Environmental Specialist, Robert Neal, Coastal Engineer, Paul Stancati, Engineer Technician II, and Michael Capps, Engineer Technician II.
