Parade Master of Ceremonies Patrick Nolan FOX4 News Anchor
Veterans Day Parade - BOSN2 Gene Gibson United States Coast Guard Commanding Officer at the Fort Myers Beach Station, will serve as Parade Grand Marshal. FOX4 News Anchor Patrick Nolan will serve as the Parade Master of Ceremonies. From the stage in Big John's parking lot (Cape Coral Town Center) they will announce each entry as it moves along the parade route. Many parade entries with a combination of students of all ages representing the School District of Lee County, veterans organizations, elected officials and youth groups like the Boy Scouts and Little League teams will walk down the 1/2 mile parade route. Pre-staging area for parade entries begins at S.E. 8th Court. Spectators should bring a lawn chair and sit anywhere along the parade route. Spectator or participant questions - call Cape Coral Parks and Recreation at 573-3125.
Post Parade Ceremonies - Who better than the United Veterans of Lee County (UVLC) to conduct the post parade ceremonies after the holiday parade. The UVLC's main function is to unify all the county's veterans organizations so that the 70,000 Lee County veterans speak with one voice on all vets issues. This event will be conducted from the stage in Big John's parking lot. Some of the guest speakers may include Lee County leaders from the Lee County veterans community, Lee County Commissioner Tammy Hall, Cape Coral Mayor Eric Feichthaler, and Gayle Wetzel, Lt. Col. USAF, Retired Nurse. There will be plenty of pageantry with the Posting of the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and a rousing rendition of the National Anthem. What a great way to end this year's Veterans Day Celebration by hearing from the very veterans we are honoring on this national holiday. If you have questions call Ken Thibodeau at 418-0939 or Ralph Irons at 415-1957.
