Description: This position is responsible for performing professional work in the area of Civil and Transportation Engineering. Examples of Essential Duties: The primary function of this position is to review complex projects ensuring compliance with land development regulations including Development Standards, Zoning, and the Comprehensive Plan. Will conduct reviews of complex Development Order Traffic Impact Statements, ensure compliance with Concurrency regulations, manage the Concurrency Inventory database, and prepare Concurrency Report. Will also conduct level of service analysis and determine the impact from developments on roads, utilities, parks, solid waste, and storm water management facilities. Will assist staff with interpretation and application of general engineering principles, Land Development Code, and TIS Guidelines. Will also supervise the Development Review Engineer. Typical Qualifications: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field and five to seven years of experience in engineering transportation planning or a related field, including two years of supervisory experience. Possession of a valid Florida Class E Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required. Supplemental Information: A Florida Professional Engineers license may be required. This internship program is designed to allow students preparing for careers in the field of urban planning the opportunity to gain exposure and work experience in the field. Consideration will is also given to students required to complete a professional internship as part of an urban planning program. Assists in the fundamental tasks of design and implementation of data collection systems; compiles and analyzes data; assists in the preparation of all or portions of various planning documents relating to the comprehensive plan; assists in the public presentation or dissemination of planning materials and information. Prepares maps, graphics, and other special charts as necessary. Participates in field surveys to secure a variety of planning data such as land use, population density, traffic, and housing data and availability of community services. Participates in projects through interviews and research; tabulates and compiles economic and other data pertaining to county planning. May collect, organize, and post information on the Department’s Web Pages. |
