Analysis of Impediments

What is the Analysis of Impediments (AI)?

Local communities are required to provide an Analysis of Impediments to fair housing choices within their communities. Local communities will define the problems, develop the solutions, and be held accountable for meeting the standards they set for themselves. This will certify that each community will affirmatively further fair housing as a condition of receiving Federal funds.

Who is updating the AI?

Lee County, the City of Cape Coral and the City of Fort Myers have partnered together to provide an update to the Analysis of Impediments. The update will be completed by Mr. Bill Thompson, President and CEO of Housing Opportunities Project Excellence, Inc. (H.O.P.E., Inc.) located in Miami, FL. H.O.P.E., Inc. is a private fair housing, not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 corporation established in 1988, one of three in Florida dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination and promoting fair housing.

H.O.P.E., Inc. is the only private not-for-profit fair housing organization in South Florida engaged in testing for fair housing law violations and pursuing enforcement of meritorious claims. Since its inception, it has achieved settlement for victims of housing discrimination cases in excess of $6,700,000.00+.
