Veterans Service Office
Mission: To inform and assist all veterans, their dependents, widows, and surviving children in securing all benefits to which they may become entitled. The Veterans Service Office shall act as liaison between service organizations and Lee County Government on veteran's issues.
These services shall be provided in the effective, efficient, polite and respectful manner that is deserved by those who have served their country honorably.
The County Veterans Service Officer and Veterans Counselors shall be skilled and knowledgeable of how the law applies to any earned benefit. While maintaining integrity and honesty, they shall prepare claims in order to present the best case for the veteran, and which will withstand the scrutiny of a Federal Court. They shall in no way interfere with or prevent the filing of a claim, as all persons have the "right" to file a claim, valid or not.
The County Veterans Service Officer and Veterans Counselors must keep the confidence of all veterans, and must at all times maintain strict confidentiality of the personal information that will be entrusted to them through military records, medical reports, personal conversations, and other sources.
The County Veterans Service Officer and all members of the staff accept the public trust placed upon them. They will conduct themselves in a manner above reproach, using every legal, moral, and ethical effort to attain the rights and benefits earned by the veteran. Their obligation is primarily to the veteran, their dependents, and the community; not to self.
