ARRA/Smokehouse Bay Preserve Restoration Program/Project Description: This grant provides restoration of natural communities and hydrologic features and function to the Smokehouse Bay Preserve. The restoration activities include removing of remaining palm trees, regrading the 51 acre abandoned palm grove, treatment of exotic invasive plants throughout the 268 acre preserve and installation of 20 acres of native plants and reestablishment of 30 acres of high marsh within the abandoned palm grove. This restoration effort will benefit the Preserve and Matlacha Aquatic Preserve. Grant Amount: 225,000.00 Funding Agency: US Dept of the Interior - United States Fish and Wildlife Service
