We Need You
to Step-Up, Florida
And Promote Active Living
In Lee County
February 4-5, 2004

The Lee County Health Department and our partners are taking part in the Florida Department of Health’s campaign to raise awareness of the urgent need for everyone to be more physically active in daily life.

As a way to promote this important message a statewide relay called Step Up Florida will be used to deliver recommendations to the Florida state legislature when they open their spring session on March 2, 2004.

Lee County’s route will include a 125-mile tour that begins in Bonita Springs and brings the relay flag to Charlotte County at Burntstore. All forms of human-powered activity will be used, including walkers, cyclists, runners, wheelchair users and paddlers.

If you or someone you know is interested in taking part in one or more segments, or would like to assist in any way, please contact Margaret Vislocky at 239-332-9594 or Dan Moser at 239-332-9514. There is no fee for taking part, but we will be counting on your participation if you commit so we can reach our goal of getting the message to our leaders when their session opens in Tallahassee.
