Women's History Programs at the Lee County Library System

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 1, 2005 – Cate Blanchett won an Oscar for portraying her in "The Aviator", tonight presenter Jacquelyn Pierce portrays Hollywood legend Katharine Hepburn to a standing room only audience at the South County Regional Library. This is just the first of the Lee County Library System's special programs celebrating Women's History Month.

Tonight's program is "sold-out" and spaces are filling up quickly for other events. Please call the library to reserve your space.

World-renowned presenter Jacquelyn Pierce portrays one of the most unique personalities in the history of Hollywood. Participate in a special tribute to stage and screen legend Katharine Hepburn.
 

A Visit With Mary Cassatt
7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16
Using the magic of theatre, performer Jenny Aldrich delivers a stunning portrayal of famed artist Mary Cassatt as if she’s actually sharing the story of her life and work and the ideas behind her paintings.
The only American artist to exhibit with French Impressionists, “Cassatt” describes her days in 19th-century Europe. Please preregister.

Eleanor Roosevelt: First Lady of the World
7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23
The year is 1959 and former first lady and widow of 32nd president Franklin D. Roosevelt is alive. The great author, columnist and humanitarian relives through performer Joan Wolfberg in this entertaining characterization of one of the nation’s greatest first ladies. Wolfberg tells the story of Mrs. Roosevelt’s bleak childhood, marriage, life in the White House and her successes at the United Nations. Please preregister.
