RELAX AND READ WINNER ANNOUNCED

FORT MYERS, Fla., May 7, 2004 – Lee County Library System director Cynthia Cobb recently presented the grand prize to this year’s Relax and Read winner Heather Ingram, a Riverdale Branch Library patron, in conclusion of the annual adult reading program.  Riverdale Branch librarians served refreshments to everyone in attendance at the presentation.

Each year, patrons at all Lee County Library System locations are invited to check out any book, audio book or book on CD, and then “relax and read” (or listen) at their convenience.  Afterward, patrons review the book on a special form provided by the library and are entered into a free weekly drawing, and eventually, the grand prize drawing.

Ingram’s entry for “The Persian Boy” by Mary Renault was drawn at random from all entries received during the nine-week program.  The grand prize gift basket contained five signed books by Lee County Reading Festival authors.  Barnes & Noble Booksellers of Fort Myers donated the books that were signed by Rick Bragg, James W. Hall, Joy Fielding, Douglas Brinkley, and Tim Dorsey at the March 2004 Reading Festival in downtown Fort Myers.  The grand prize also included two passes donated by Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre.  Ingram was pleased to receive the books and looks forward to seeing her first Broadway Palm production.
