Bookmobile
The
Bookmobile
was
purchased in
1991. The
40-foot long
vehicle is
built on a
school bus
chassis, and
includes a
wheelchair
lift, three
air
conditioners,
and a diesel
engine and
generator.
It holds
more than
3,000 items
and visits
more than 20
stops around
Lee County
every 2
weeks.

Mail
Provides
printed
reading
materials as
well as
videos, DVDs
and other
library
items to
those who
cannot visit
the library
due to a
medical or
physical
disability.
This service
is also
extended to
caretakers
of
Books-By-Mail
patrons.

Literacy
A "Ready
collection"
of resources
is available
at each
library with
materials to
help adults
improve
their
reading and
writing
skills in
order to
participate
more fully
in community
life. The
library also
offers
literacy
programs and
works with
literacy
partners
throughout
Lee County.

Talking
Books
Library
Talking
Books are
not books on CD, but are tapes and players specially designed for use by the visually impaired or physically disabled. Talking Books is provided by the
National
Library
Service for
the Blind
and
Physically
Handicapped
(a division
of the
Library of
Congress). Talking Books also offers DVDs of hit movies with professional narration, as well as assistive devices for low-vision or low-hearing.
