NetLibrary eBooks

 

What are NetLibrary eBooks? NetLibrary eBooks are electronic versions of print books with full text and full graphics, with enhanced features such as links from the Table of Contents, an embedded dictionary, full-text searching, and the ability to mark titles or pages and make notes. eBooks are available 24/7 from any computer with Internet access.
Who’s eligible to use?

NetLibrary eBooks are available to anyone within the library or to anyone with an LCLS library card from home.

What’s available?

Over 48,000 fiction and nonfiction titles, including reference, legal, medical, travel, computer and classic titles.

Where are they found? NetLibrary eBooks can be found by going directly to the NetLibrary web site at www.netlibrary.com or when searching the Lee County Library System Catalog. When searching the catalog by subject or keyword, you can limit the results to “e-books” to find NetLibrary titles.
How do I read them? Click on the “View this eBook” link to read the book online for as long as you wish.
Is there a time limit for reading books? There is no time limit as long as you actively viewing and turning pages. If your session remains inactive for 15 minutes, a pop-up asks if you want to continue. If there is no response, the e-book view automatically times out and becomes available for others to use.
Is checkout required? Checkouts are no longer required to view Netlibrary eBooks.

Do I need an account?

Accounts are no longer required to view Netlibrary eBooks, but they can still be used to keep track of your favorite e-book titles, and to add and track notes to the e-books you are reading.

What happens when I try to view an eBook that someone else is using?

When all copies of a title are in use, you’ll see a message indicating that all copies are in use by other users. You are given the option view the Table of Contents for the title, and to be notified by email when a copy of the title becomes available.
What hardware is required?

Any computer connected to the Internet.

 
What software is required?

A regular web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and sometimes additional software like Adobe Reader is required.

Can I search for something in an eBook?

Yes! one of the great features of eBooks, is that the entire book is searchable by keyword.

 

Can I print an eBook? Yes. You can copy small selections or print single pages of a title, just as you can with print material. NetLibrary eBooks are protected by copyright laws subject to the terms and conditions of fair use.
How do I view Netlibrary eBooks from home? Next to the libraries’ website link to NetLibrary, choose the the link “Click here to search from outside a library” to use your library card number to access the Netlibrary collection.
