How
to Get a Library Card
Library Cards
Library cards are issued free of charge
to individuals who:
Show proof of residency in Lee County
Are employed in Lee County
Own property or a business in lee County
Are students in Lee County
The following are acceptable proof of residency:
- Florida driver's license or ID card
- tax strap number
- rental lease
- receipt for Florida auto tags
- proof of property ownership
- voter's registration card
- printed checks
- declaration of domicile
- utility bill
- work ID or paycheck stub
- telephone book listing in combination with
another form of ID
- school identification card
- mail delivered to an address in Lee County,
recently postmarked
Non-residents may obtain a library card
for a fee. Two types of cards are available:
Please note: New charges for visitors and non-resident cards go into
effect on October 12, 2006.
Visitor Card
valid for three months |
$15 |
Non-resident Card
valid for one year |
$60 |
The new charges more
closely reflect the average amount that a Lee County resident pays for library
services through local taxes.
Children under 12 must have a parent or guardian's
signature to receive a library card.
Cards are issued at
all
locations in the system and can be used at all locations.
Loss or theft of a card, as well as change of address,
should be reported to the library immediately.
Regardless of where books are borrowed, they may be
returned at any Lee County Library System location. After hours book drops are provided at
most
locations.
