Types of Books 

Fiction 
Fiction books are arranged alphabetically by the
author's last name. The call number on the spine of the
book has an F for fiction above the first three letter of the
author's last name. 

Biographies 
Biographies are filed alphabetically by the last name
of the person the book is about. The call number has a B for
biography above the entire last name. 

Nonfiction 
The Dewey Decimal System numbers nonfiction books
by their subject. The call number on the spine of the book is the
number of the subject area above the first three letters of the
author's last name. The numbers are the same for all nonfiction
books, whether they are reference, juvenile, Florida, etc.
