As
part
of
the
Boca
Grande
Community
Center
renovation,
the
Library
will
gain
400
square
feet
and
a
new
floor
plan
with
more
computers
and
a
circulating
collection
of
over
7,000
library
items.
The
renovation
is
expected
to
be
completed
in
May
2008.
Library
users
have
access
to
current
resources
and
service
during
the
renovation. |

Technology |
Five
computers
will
be
added
to
the
existing
computers
for
a
total
of
twelve
computers.
One
of
these
twelve
computers
will
be
an
Express
Station
with
a
10-minute
time
limit.
Reference
Room
visitors
with
their
laptops
will
be
able
to
plug-in
to
the
library's
network
for
Internet
access
and
their
computer's
files.
Wireless
users
may
access
the
Internet
anywhere
on
the
Community
Center
grounds.
The
additional
computers,
the
10-minute
Express
Station,
the
laptop
plug-in
access
and
wireless
access
will
help
alleviate
the
waiting
line
during

Collection

A
circulating
collection
of
approximately
7,000
items
will
be
added.
Forty
percent
of
the
collection
will
be
devoted
to
adult
fiction
and
non-fiction
(2800
items).
Twenty-five
percent
will
be
juvenile
and
young
adult
materials
(1780
items).
Eight
percent
(560
items)
will
be
reference
materials.
Two
percent
will
be
periodicals
and
newspapers
(80
items).
Twenty-five
percent
will
be
DVDs,
books
on
CD;
music
CDs;
software
and
"playaway"
digitized
audio
books.(1780
items).
In
addition
to
the
items
located
in
the
Room,
library
card
holders
have
access
to
more
than
1.3
million
items
located
in
the
other
11
libraries
in
the
Lee
County
Library
System
through
our
online
catalog
at
www.www3.leegov.com/library.
Many
tems
not
in
the
Lee
County
Library
System
collection
can
be
reserved
from
other
Florida
libraries
using
IBorrow.
A
worldwide
collection
is
available
through
FirstSearch.

resources

Library

Cards |
Circulating
items
will
be
available
for
checkout
with
a
Lee
County
Library
System
card.
Library
cards
are
free
to
anyone
who
lives,
works
or
goes
to
school
in
Lee
County.
Thanks
to
an interlocal
agreement
with
Charlotte
County,
Boca
Grande
residents
have
access
to
libraries
in
both
counties.
Those
who
live
or
work
in
the
Charlotte
county
portion
of
the
island,
may
use
the
Lee
County
Library
System
card
only
at
the
Boca
Grande
Library.
Those
who
live,
work
or
attend
school
in
the
Lee
County
portion
of
the
island,
may
use
their
library
cards
at
any
of
the
12
Lee
County
libraries.
Lee
County
library
card
holders
can
also
get
a
Charlotte
County
Library
System
card
to
use
only
at
the
Englewood
Charlotte
Public
Library
located
at
3450
N.
Access
Road
on
776.
Just

About
the
Expansion
Project
|
|
In a
true
cooperative
effort,
the
renovation
expenses
are
being
shared
by
two
Lee
County
departments.
Parks
&
Recreation
is
paying
for
the
construction
costs,
electrical
wiring,
new
flooring
and
renovation
of
the
beloved
historic
windows.
The
Library
System
is
paying
for
the
room's
new
contents:
library
materials,
computers,
wireless
access,
book
shelves,
self
check
machine,
security
system
and
furniture. |
