LCLS Bookmobile Facts

You may get a free library card on the Bookmobile. You will need it to check out materials, and can use the card at any branch of the library system. You are responsible for all materials that are checked out using your card.

You may request materials that are not on the Bookmobile. If you don’t see what you want, simply fill out a request form for a specific title or subject. Library staff will try to have your requested materials when they next visit your stop. You may also request materials by calling the Bookmobile office.

You may check out library materials for two or four weeks. Library staff will print a list of the books you have checked out with the day they are due. You may return books to any branch or the Bookmobile. There is no fine for late materials that you return to the Bookmobile.

The Bookmobile was purchased in 1991. The 40-foot long vehicle is built on a school bus chassis, and includes a wheelchair lift, three air conditioners, and a diesel engine and generator.

Last year, the Bookmobile checked out over 32,000 items and had over 13,000 visitors.

The Bookmobile holds over 3,000 books, including fiction and nonfiction titles for youth of all ages as well as adult materials, magazines, and large print titles.

The Bookmobile is wheelchair accessible.
