DEREK ANDERSON is an
author/illustrator who wanted to be rabbit when he was growing up. But he
waited and waited and the change never took place. Although he was
disappointed that the rabbit thing didn’t work out, luckily he had writing
and drawing to fall back on. He was selected as a “Publishers Weekly” Flying
Start. He illustrated “Ready? Set. Raymond!” by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson and
“Little Quack” by Lauren Thompson. His newest book, “Little Quack’s Hide and
Seek,” also by Lauren Thompson came out in February 2004. Derek has three
additional books coming out from Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers,
one of which he wrote. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife. |

ELISA CARBONE is a full-time writer
and a part-time rock climber, windsurfer, and white water paddler. She is
the author of Stealing Freedom, an ALA Best Book for Young Adults and Storm
Warriors, an ALA Notable and WINNER of the Virginia Library Association's
2002 Jefferson Cup Award. Her latest novel, The Pack, has just been released

ROGER ESCHBACHER has an
eclectic writing career. It runs the gamut from penning such animated shows
as "Baby Looney Tunes," and "Rocket Power," to staff positions on live
action shows like "The New Candid Camera" and "America’s Funniest Home
Videos." He is also the author of a children’s picture book, "Nonsense! He
Yelled." He is an actor on film, stage, and television. An alumnus of Los
Angeles’ celebrated comedy troupe "The Groundlings," his TV credits include
guest appearances on "ER," "The West Wing, " "Friends," and "Seinfeld." He
plays the role of "Superintendent Zimmer" in the movie "Dumb and Dumberer."
Eschbacher lives in Valencia, California with his wife, Margie, their three

EDMUND GATLEY
is the author of
“Dalmingo the Flamingo.” After years in corporate management, Gatley
decided he needed a change in life and purchased a Tropical Bird Pet Store.
That led to an interest in the study of Ornithology, especially flamingos.
Gatley is presently working to bring “Dalmingo” to the movies. He lives in

ARD HOYT was born in Temple, Texas
and raised on picture books. A recent graduate of the Art Center College of
Design in Pasadena, California, he loves to draw and tell stories. He has
illustrated “One Dog Canoe” by Mary Casanova, and “I’m a Manatee” by John
Lithgow. Coming soon are “Saying Goodbye to Lulu” by Corinne Demas, followed
by “Mr. Murry and Thumbkin (A Mouse Tale)” by Karma Wilson. He currently
lives in Bentonville, Arkansas with his wife and three daughters. |

HELEN KETTEMAN
is the author of thirteen picture books. Her books range in age from
preschool through fourth of 5th graders who may be studying tall

UMA KRISHNASWAMI was born
in New Delhi, India. She grew up steeped in rich oral stories that were
strangely at odds with the children’s books by English writers that she also
devoured. Her first published work, when she was thirteen, was a poem. Her
books include “Chachaji’s Cup,” “Monsoon,” and “The Broken Tusk.” Her short
stories appear in “Soul Searching” and “Period Pieces: Stories for Girls.”

DONNA JO NAPOLI
writes both juvenile and
young adult books. Her juvenile books include “Rocky: The Cat Who Barks,”
and “Jimmy, The Pickpocket of the Palace.” Her young adult books include
“Daughter of Venice,” and “The Magic Circle,” which was an ALA Best Book for
Young Adults. In addition to writing for children, she is a published poet
and coeditor of three poetry volumes. She is a professor of linguistics at
Swarthmore College and teaches courses in writing fiction for children. She

JACK PRELUTSKY
writes inventive poems
that inspired legions of children to fall in love with poetry. His
award-winning books include “Tyrannosaurus Was a Beast,” “The Dragons Are
Singing Tonight,” and “The Random House Book of Poetry for Children.” He
has written more than 40 books of verse and has compiled eight poetry
anthologies. Prelutsky’s book “The Frogs Wore Red Suspenders” includes a

DAN YACCARINO
is an artist, writer,
and producer who has created many children’s books and commercial
illustrations as well as his own television series. In 1993, Dan’s first
children’s book, “Big Brother Mike,” was published. Since then, he has
written and illustrated over thirty more books, including “Good Night, Mr.
Night,” and the Blast Off Boy and Blorp series. In 2001, Yaccarino’s
animated preschool television series, “Oswald,” premiered on the Nickelodeon
