Directions to the Reading Festival



Driving Directions
Certain streets in the Fort Myers River District are under construction. General driving directions are listed below, but detours may be necessary. Call239-337-1071 for the latest updates.

The following roads will be closed on festival day
  • Edwards Dr. between Heitman and Dean streets
  • Monroe St. between Edwards Dr. and Bay St.
From I-75:

Take I-75 to Exit 138, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (SR 82).  Exit and head West into Downtown Fort Myers (about 4 miles).  At Monroe Street, make a right and go three and a half blocks to the City of Palms Garage entrance just past First Street. Metered street parking is available at no cost on the weekend. Harborside Event Center's main entrance is on Monroe across Bay Street.

US 41 Coming from the North:
Take US-41 South into Downtown Fort Myers.  Once you cross over the Caloosahatchee River take the first off ramp into Downtown.  The ramp exits onto West First Street.  Go two blocks to Monroe Street and make a left. Parking is located at the City of Palms Garage - enter off Monroe Street.  Metered street parking is available at no cost on the weekend. Harborside Event Center's main entrance is on Monroe across Bay Street.

US 41 Coming from the South:
Take US-41 North into Downtown Fort Myers.  Just before you cross over the Caloosahatchee River take the last exit into Downtown (stay on your right).  The exit puts you on Main Street.  Go two blocks to Monroe Street and make a left. Parking is located at the City of Palms Garage - enter off Monroe Street.  Metered street parking is available at no cost on the weekend. Harborside Event Center's main entrance is on Monroe across Bay Street.

Show a Reading Festival bookmark or flyer to a Lee Tran driver to get a free ride to the closest stop:

  • Route 20: Bay Street, near the Harborside Event Center
  • Other routes: Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 2250 Peck Street (from here it is about a ½ mile walk to the festival grounds)


  • A festival bookmark or flyer also gets you a free ride home. Transfers included. Pick up a flyer or bookmark at any Lee County Library System location.
