Valerie Alker, News Reporter/Producer at WGCU Public Media, and Barbara Stites, Assistant Director FGCU Library Services, co-host a discussion of “The Kite Runner.”

Chefs from Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre will prepare samples of traditional Afghani foods to set the mood for the grand finale discussion for the One Book, One Community: Lee County Reads “The Kite Runner” community reading project taking place throughout October.

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Register before October 23 by calling 461-2918.

The Kite Runner", "The Breadwinner" tells the story of Parvana, a girl who lives in Afghanistan under strict Taliban rule. After her father is taken to prison, Parvana must dress as a boy and find work to support her family. "The Breadwinner" is a suitable choice for children in grades 5- 8 who wish to participate in the One Book, One Community: Lee County Reads project.
