 Marsh Point

The Marsh Point Watershed is located in the north central area of Lee County. It is approximately three square miles in size. The trunk originates at the Caloosahatchee approximately 9,000' east of Old U.S. 41. The Marsh Point watershed is approximately one half mile wide on an average by approximately 3 1/2 miles long. It is generally located between the Powell Creek Watershed and Daughtrey Creek Watershed.

The watershed boundary has changed somewhat since the 1979 "Water Management in Lee County" report by Johnson Engineering. An area of about 480 acres in the southwest portion of the watershed is now considered to be coastal drainage. The boundary between Marsh Point and the adjacent Daughtrey Creek Watershed has also undergone some modification due to further study. Overall, the watershed has decreased in size approximately 500 acres from the Interim Report boundary.

Johnson Engineering utilized a number of verification methods including on-the-ground reconnaissance to generally confirm the watershed boundary presented in this report. There are no significant structural flow crossings along the watershed boundary. The Marsh Point trunk remains essentially a natural channel up to its interconnection with Baker Canal. This canal is a major conveyance element for the Suncoast Estates drainage area. This interconnection is located approximately at Station 95+00.

A general description of the Marsh Point Watershed boundary is as follows: The northwest corner of the watershed starts at the quarter corner on the north line of Section 24, Township 43, Range 24. Run east to the northeast corner of Section 24 then run south to a point approximately 200' north of the southeast corner of Section 24; then run east for approximately 700'; then generally southeast by contour to Slater Road; then southeast along Slater Road for 2000'; then east for about 700'; then south by contour for 4000'; then southwest and south by contour to the river; then northwest, north and northwest across S.R. 78 by contour to Hart Road approximately 2300' north of S.R. 78; then north along Hart Road to the intersection with the FP&L power line grade; then west along the power line grade approximately 200'; then north to the northwest corner of the watershed.

The above description is provided as general information only and does not constitute a legal description. See the watershed boundary map on page 18-WM for details of the boundary.
