Daughtrey Creek East Branch
The Daughtrey Creek East Branch Watershed is located in the north central area of Lee County. The Daughtrey Creek and Daughtrey Creek East Branch watersheds have a total combined area of 37 seven square miles. Approximately 34 square miles of that area are within the Daughtrey Creek Watershed. The Daughtrey Creek East Branch Watershed comprises a little over three square miles. This report will focus on the Daughtrey Creek East Branch. All of the Daughtrey Creek East Branch Watershed area is located within Lee County. The trunk originates at its confluence with the Daughtrey Creek main trunk, approximately one mile upstream of the main trunk's confluence with the Caloosahatchee. The watershed averages less than a mile wide by approximately 4 1/2 miles long. The watershed is generally located between the Daughtrey Creek Watershed and the Chapel Branch and Bayshore Creek watersheds.
The watershed boundary has changed somewhat since the 1979 "Water Management in Lee County" report by Johnson Engineering and the "Lee County Interim Surface Water Management Plan." The majority of the one square mile area in Charlotte County, formerly considered part of this watershed in the 1979 report is now part of the Bayshore Creek watershed with the remainder of the one square mile area now being part of the Daughtrey Creek Watershed.
Johnson Engineering utilized a number of verification methods including on-the-ground reconnaissance to generally confirm the watershed boundary presented in this report. There are no significant structural flow crossings along the watershed boundary. The ditch along the north side of Nalle Grade interconnects Bayshore, Popash and Daughtrey Creek-East Branch watersheds as an equalizer. The Daughtrey Creek East Branch main trunk remains a natural channel which has seen little modification.
A general description of the Daughtrey Creek East Branch Watershed boundary is as follows. The northwest corner of the watershed is on the Lee/Charlotte County line approximately 3,800 feet east of the northwest corner of Section 5, Township 43, Range 25; then continue east along the north line of Section 5 to the northeast corner; then south to the southeast corner of Section 5; then west along the south line of Section 5 for approximately 1,800 feet; then southwest and south by contour to Rich Road; then west along Rich Road for 1,500 feet; then south and west by contour to I-75 at a point approximately 700 feet east of the channel crossing; then continue southeast along I-75 for approximately 1,100 feet; then south to the Seminole Gulf Railroad Grade; then southeast along the Railroad Grade for approximately 2,300 feet; then south, southwest and southeast by contour through Section 20, 43, 25 to a point on S.R. 78 approximately 800 feet northeast of Samville Road; then continue southeast crossing Samville Road at a point approximately 1,200 feet east of S.R. 78; then continue southeast, south and west by contour to the confluence of Daughtrey Creek East Branch and Daughtrey Creek; then west and northwest to S.R. 78 and its intersection with its east line of Section 30-43-25; then north, northeast and north by contour to the Seminole Gulf Railroad Grade; then northwest along the grade to Slater Road; then north along Slater Road to Nalle Grade Road; then east along Nalle Grade Road for 300 feet; then curve to the northeast by contour to a point on the west section line of Section 5-43-25 approximately 2,700 feet south of the northwest corner of Section 5, then north, east and north by contour to the Lee/Charlotte County line.
