Bayshore Creek
The Bayshore Creek Watershed is located in the north central area of Lee County. It is approximately three square miles in size. The trunk originates at the Caloosahatchee approximately six tenths of a mile west of I-75. The watershed is approximately five miles long and a half mile wide. It is generally located between the Chapel Branch Watershed and the Popash Creek Watershed.
The watershed boundary has changed somewhat since the 1979 "Water Management in Lee County" report by Johnson Engineering. Now included in this watershed is an area of approximately 245 acres in Charlotte County formerly within the Daughtrey Creek Watershed. Additionally, the boundary with other adjacent watersheds has also undergone some modification due to further study. Overall the watershed has increased in size about one-half square mile from the "Lee County Interim Surface Water Management Plan."
Johnson Engineering utilized a number of verification methods including SFWMD permit information and on-the-ground reconnaissance to generally confirm the watershed boundary presented in this report. There are no significant structural flow crossings along the watershed boundary. The ditch along the north side of Nalle Grade interconnects Bayshore, Popash and Daughtrey Creek-East Branch watersheds as an equalizer. The Bayshore Creek trunk remains essentially a natural channel which has seen little modification.
A general description of the Bayshore Creek Watershed boundary within Lee County is as follows: begin at the northwest corner of Section 4, Township 43 South, Range 25 East; then run east for 3,300 feet; then south to the east-west alignment of Welborn Road; then east along Welborn Road for 700 feet; then south to Henderson Grade; then southwest parallel to the trunk to Rich Road; then south, southeast and south by contour to a point 600 feet north of the power line grade and 2,200 feet west of the east line of Section 16, Township 43 South, Range 25 East; then west for 1,800 feet; then southeast to a point on Leetana Road approximately 1,300 feet east of the channel; then east along Leetana for 500 feet; then south along Leetana for 1,000 feet; then southwest perpendicular to and crossing I-75; then southeast and southwest and south by contour to SR 78 at a point approximately 500 feet east of the channel; then east on SR 78 for 1,200 feet; then south, east and south by contour to the north bank of the Caloosahatchee; then curve southwest and west by contour to a point on the Seminole Gulf Railroad Grade approximately 1,500 feet north of the north bank of the Caloosahatchee; then north and northwest along the railroad grade to a point on the railroad 1,300 feet northwest of SR 78; then north to I-75; then northwest along I-75 for 1,400 feet; then north to Leetana Road; then east on Leetana Road 700 feet; then north to Rich Road; then east on Rich Road 800 feet to the southwest corner of Section 9, Township 43 South, Range 25 East; then north for 1,900 feet; then east for 1,400 feet; then generally north to Nalle Grade Road; then west along Nalle Grade Road to the southwest corner of Section 4, Township 43 South, Range 25 East; then north to the northwest corner of Section 4.
