  Mullock Creek

The Mullock Creek Watershed is located in the southwest quarter of Lee County. The watershed trunk originates at Estero Bay in the vicinity of Hendry Creek. The total area of this watershed is about 77 square miles with 68 square miles contributed by Ten Mile Canal. This report will focus on the approximate nine square mile watershed area of Mullock Creek. The watershed is approximately three square miles wide and two and one-half miles long. It is generally located south of the Six Mile Cypress Watershed and west and north of the Estero River Watershed.

The watershed boundary has changed somewhat since the 1979 "Water Management in Lee County" report by Johnson Engineering and the "Lee County Interim Surface Water Management Plan." The area in the 1979 report east of I-75 is now included in the Estero River Watershed. Likewise, some areas in the southern portion of the watershed are now included in the Estero River Watershed. This has resulted in a net decrease in area from the 1979 report of approximately two square miles.

Johnson Engineering utilized a number of verification methods including SFWMD permit information and on-the-ground reconnaissance to generally confirm the watershed boundary presented in this report. There are no significant structural flow crossings along the watershed boundary. The Mullock Creek main trunk remains a natural channel up to its confluence with the man-made channel running through San Carlos Park. This confluence is at approximately Station 125+00.

A general description of the Mullock Creek Watershed boundary is as follows: beginning at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Alico Road run east along Alico Road to Three Oaks Parkway; then south and east along Three Oaks Parkway to an intersection with the extension of the east line of San Carlos Park; then south along that extension and along the east line of San Carlos Park; to the north line of East Gate at San Carlos Pines; then southeast along the north line of East Gate at San Carlos Pines to Three Oaks Parkway; then south along Three Oaks Parkway to the south line East Gate at San Carlos Pines; then northwest along the south line of East Gate at San Carlos Pines to the east line of San Carlos Park; then south to the southeast corner of San Carlos Park; then west along the south line of San Carlos Park to the southwest corner of San Carlos Park; then continue west; then southwest and south by contour to Koreshan Boulevard to a point approximately 100 feet east of the intersection of Koreshan Boulevard and the Seminole Gulf Railroad; then west and southwest on Koreshan Boulevard to U.S. 41; then northwest on U.S. 41 to the south line of Section 21, Township 46 South, Range 25 East; then west along the south line of Section 21 and 20 for 5,000 feet; then south for 1,900 feet; then southwest to the FP&L power line grade; then northwest along the power line grade for 10,800 feet; then continue on the same northwesterly alignment for 500 feet; then west and southwest by contour along the creek; then north across the creek at Station 30+00; then continuing northeast and north by contour for approximately 3,500 feet; then southeast by contour for 2,300 feet; then crossing Ten Mile Canal, northeast by contour to Park Road; then southeast and east along Park Road to U.S. 41; then northwest along U.S. 41 to the intersection of Alico Road.

The above description is provided as general information only and does not constitute a legal description. See the watershed boundary map on page 46B-WM for details of the boundary.
