Leitner Creek
The Leitner Creek watershed is located in the south central portion of Lee County. It is approximately 1.5 square miles in area and is a subbasin of the greater Imperial River watershed. The watershed is generally located north of Imperial River and east of Old U.S. 41; and is approximately 2.5 miles in the east-west direction by 0.5 mile in the north-south.
The watershed has not significantly changed since the Lee County Surface Water Management Plan for Imperial River was completed in June 1991. The watershed boundary described herein has been better defined with the use of County topographic aerial maps, field reconnaissance, historical data and past efforts in conjunction with the Imperial River study.
The watershed is generally described as follows: commence at the intersection of Old U.S. 41 and the northern banks of the Imperial River and proceed northerly along U.S. 41 to Bonita Drive; thence continue easterly along Bonita Drive to the end of the right-of-way; thence continue northeasterly by contour to the northeast corner of the southeast quarter section of Section 26, Township 47S. and Range 25E.; thence continue north along the section line to the northeast corner of said Section 26; thence continue easterly along the north section lines of Section 25, Township 47S. and Range 25E. and Section 30, Township 27S. Range 26E. to the northeast section corner of Section 30; thence continue southerly along the said section line to the half section corner; thence continue westerly along the half section line of said Section 30; thence continue westerly by contour along the half section line of Section 25, Township 47S. and Range 25E. to the half section corner; thence continue southerly along the half section line to its intersection with East Terry Street; thence continue westerly along East Terry Street approximately 600 feet; thence westerly by southwesterly by contour to the intersection of Goodwin Street; thence continue westerly along Goodwin Street to its intersection with the northern banks of the Imperial River.
The above description is provided for general information only and is not intended to serve as a legal description. See the watershed map at the end of this section for an illustration of the preceding description.
