Training and Classes

Erosion and Sediment Control classes are based on the FDEP course and certification.  Successful completion of the course results in a Qualified Storm water Inspector certificate from FDEP.  Courses are typically hosted twice per year by Lee County (April and October).  The course is one of the qualification alternatives to be deemed a qualified inspector by the FDEP.  The course is conducted over two days (12 hours of class time), a manual is provided and successful completion of an exam is required to achieve certification by the FDEP.  Currently, there is no charge for the class, however there is limited class size and reservations are requested.  If you have interest in attending the course, please complete and submit a request to be placed on the waiting list for the next available class.  You will be notified of the next available class approximately two weeks prior to the class.  If you would like to be placed on the next available class waiting list choose this link.  Storm Water Class

Advanced Storm water classes are also offered in conjunction with the classes above.  They typically fall during the same week as the two day course, do not require an exam and are approximately four hours in length.  The course is geared toward the application of eosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs), illicit discharge detection and key elements of the Notice of Intent (application for the construction permit).   If you have interest in attending the course, please complete and submit a request to be placed on the waiting list for the next available class.  You will be notified of the next available class approximately two weeks prior to the class.  If you would like to be placed on the next available class waiting list choose this link: Advanced Storm Water and Illicit Discharge Class
